I school I learned to finish a letter with "I'm looking forward to see you later."

Now I moved to the UK and here I realised that most people say: "I look forward meeting you later."

Which one is now the correct way?

Hi Sephite,

not sure if you want to know the difference between:
'I'm looking forward to' vs 'I look forward to'?

A) "I am looking forward to hearing from you"
B) "I look forward to hearing from you"

are both possible. (A) is less formal than (B), and to that extent more polite. Not that (A) is impolite.

In other words:
The distinction is subtle and mostly one of formality. ‘I look forward to’ is more formal, and typically the way you’d sign off in a business correspondence. It implies that you’re expecting the next action to come from the recipient of your letter or e-mail. ‘I am looking forward to’ is less formal, and more likely to be the phrase of choice when speaking or writing to a friend. It implies you’re referring to a more definite upcoming event.

Your example 'I look forward meeting you later' seems to be a mistake. What do native speakers say?

HTH

"I look / am looking forward to meeting you." is correct.
"I look / am looking forward to meet you." is incorrect.

Hi Sephite,

In second version you mentined - "I look forward meeting you later" the word "to" is missing:

I look forward/am looking forward to meeting you later
