gespaltet or gespalten?

przez Maluen
Is it true that I can use both words? PONS says so but I wanted to ask if this doesn't depend on the context?

No, I think in most cases you have only one possibility. Have you got an example where you want to use it?

Hi,I just found this article, here you can find a paragraph about it:
http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/zwiebelfis ... 78,00.html
That’s a column from a German linguist who writes about frequently made mistakes in the German language.

The Grammatik-Duden says: "Die unregelmäßige Form gespalten steht besonders bei adjektivischem Gebrauch (gespaltenes Holz usw.)"

Thank you! The sentence I have to translate is "His political view on this topic is ambiguous." The teacher said we have to use the verb “spalten” for it...

Ok, this is clearly the adjectival use, so you have to use "gespalten" :)
