Hallo,

spontan würde ich sagen: to meet s.o. at eye level

If you ask me, I'd say it's "to see eye to eye (with sb)"

Would like to meet a MAN who feels comfortable being at eye level with a WOMAN.

Diesen Satz habe ich in einer Dating-Annonce gefunden. Also scheint die Linguistin recht zu haben...

Oder?

Hey Damien,

No offense, but it's kind of silly to say one person is right (and another is wrong) with regards to translations. For one, we're not holding any contests here, so there are no winners or losers, but rather valuable, contributing members of a forum. For two, context plays a major role, after all.

Besides, if you look carefully, you'll see that Linguistin's suggestion was:

"to meet s.o. at eye level"

whereas that ad that you quoted mentions:

"being at eye level with sb"

I have a feeling that the "eye level" part of that ad you mentioned has to do more with height than anything else. In other words, I bet the woman who wrote that is either taller than average or looking for a guy who's shorter than average.

Cheers,
Yama
