Hi @ all,

zweimal 80 Watt an 8 Ohm (from the technical data of an amplifier)?

any technicians/electrical engineers out there - can I translate this as 80 watts on 80 ohm or ist that a "false friend"?
What does this refer to (if poss. simple explanation)

TIA

Hi Laura !

I would translate it as : Twice 80 watts at 8 ohms (although it does not look well said in German, perhaps it was German created in China  )

Dear Laura,

that's something nice you've got here! I would say it is: 80 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
It refer's to the power of an audio amplifier and means that the amp can deliver 80 watts per stereo channel if the impedance of the loudspeaker is 8 ohms.
See

http://www.prestonelectronics.com/audio/Impedance.htm

for a good explanation of the technical facts!

Urs

Hallo fredbär,

that sounds good - it's often the "litte" words, the tos, ats and ons which can mess up a translation and make it sound Chinese or like "German" English!

Thanks + Regards,

hi Laura,
the answer is easy! do you want the "simple explanation" in English, oder auf deutsch?
