Die Staatsgalerie Stuttgart besteht aus drei Gebäuden, die für unterschiedliche Definitonen der Funktion von Museumsarchitektur stehen.
Der älteste Bauteil, heute als Alte Staatsgalerie bezeichnet, wurde 1843 als Museum der bildenden Künste eröffnet.
