Die erste Sitzung der Abrüstungskonferenz (Conference on Disarmament / CD) 2014 fand am 21. Januar in Anwesenheit von VN-Generalsekretär Ban Ki-moon statt.
Dieser erklärte 2014 zum Jahr der „Kreativität und Aktivität“ und rief die Anwesenden eindringlich auf, zum Fortschritt im Abrüstungsbereich beitragen.

On 21 January 2014 the opening plenary of the Geneva Conference on Disarmament (CD) was held in the presence of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The latter expressed the hope that 2014 would be a year of “creativity and action” and urged those present to contribute to progress in the field of disarmament this year.
