Zur natürlichen Vegetation dieser Region, die im Sommerregengebiet Südafrikas liegt, gehören dichte Wald- und Buschformationen mit Baumhöhen bis etwa 10 m ( z. B. der sogenannte Knysna-Wald der Südküste Südafrikas ).
Bäume und Sträucher der Region sind die hier gezeigten Arten der Gattungen Tarchonanthus, Grewia, Pavonia und Plumbago.
Beispiele für weiter verbreitete Arten sind der Gewelltblättrige Sumach und der Afrikanische Ölbaum, Olea africana, eine südafrikanische Schwestersippe des mediterranen Ölbaums.
