Gleich am nächsten Tag riefen die Studenten der Prager Hochschulen einen unbefristeten Streik aus, dem sich in der Folge auch Schauspieler von Prager Theatern anschlossen.
Am 19. November wurde das Bürgerforum gegründet, das sich zum Sprecher der protestierenden Öffentlichkeit etablierte und für das kommunistische Regime zum Dialogpartner wurde.
Der Weg zur Demokratie war geebnet.
