Er gehört zu den schnellsten verfügbaren Satellitencomputern weltweit, ist dabei aber erheblich kompakter und daher geeignet für kleine Technologiesatelliten, zum Beispiel bei der Europäischen Weltraumbehörde ESA oder dem Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt ( DLR ) und insbesondere auch für die weiteren Satelliten im Stuttgarter Kleinsatellitenprogramm.
Entgegen den Rechnern vieler universitärer Kleinstsatelliten basiert er auf strahlungsresistenten Microchips und garantiert damit eine entsprechende Lebensdauer im Orbit.

As part of the Climate Change Inititiave (CCI) initiated by the European Space Agency (ESA), the Land Cover CCI project is concerned with the generation of the land cover as one of the 13 Essential Climate Variables (ECV) selected on the basis of ESA priorities for the CCI programme.
The CCI programme will bring together European expertise covering the full range of scientific, technical and development specialisations available within the European Earth Observation community to significantly contribute to the ECV databases required by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
