Das Ziel ist, Risikofaktoren und Mechanismen zu identifizieren, die zur Entwicklung eines Typ 2 Diabetes postpartum bei Frauen mit Gestationsdiabetes führen und Interventionsstrategien zu entwickeln, die die Entstehung eines Typ 2 Diabetes postpartum verhindern.
Ein zweites Ziel ist Mechanismen zu identifizieren, die für das häufigere Auftreten von Übergewicht bei Kindern von Müttern mit GDM verantwortlich sind.

The objective is to identify risk factors and mechanisms leading to the development of type 2 diabetes postpartum in women with Gestational diabetes and to perform intervention studies aiming to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes postpartum.
A second objective is to identify mechanisms underlying the increased overweight risk in offspring of mothers with GDM.
