Starting with the year 2011 a consolidation phase will be introduced in Austria that according to the Budget Report 2011 (November 2010) has the goal of reducing the budget deficit of the general government from 4.5% of GDP (Budgetary Notification of 30 September 2010) in 2010 to 2.2% of GDP by 2014.
In the year 2012 the deficit is to fall below the Maastricht maximum limit of 3% of GDP.
