In Österreich wird ab dem Jahr 2011 eine Konsolidierungsphase einsetzen, die gemäß Budgetbe- richt 2011 (November 2010) eine Rückführung des gesamtstaatlichen Budgetdefizits von 4,5% des BIP (Budgetäre Notifikation vom 30. September 2010) im Jahr 2010 auf 2,2% des BIP bis 2014 zum Ziel hat.
Im Jahr 2012 soll die Maastricht-Obergrenze von 3% des BIP unterschritten werden.
