Damit fördert die anerkannte, gemeinnützige Stiftung Wacken Foundation Nachwuchsbands der Hard Rock- und Heavy Metal-Szene.
Die Stiftung wurde 2009 von den Veranstaltern des W:O:A ins Leben gerufen um die bestehende Nachwuchsförderung weiter auszubauen – denn wir brauchen alle in naher Zukunft die neuen Metallicas, Maidens oder Judas Priests.
Mittlerweile kann die Stiftung über 80 geförderte Band-Projekte verzeichnen – mit steigender Tendenz.
