Ebenfalls konnte man herausfinden, dass die Statue und ihre 9 m hohe Säule als Weihgeschenk dem Göttervater Zeus in Olympia aus Dankbarkeit für den Sieg der Messenier und Naupaktier dargebracht wurde.
Um welche Schlacht es sich hier genau handelte, blieb bislang ungeklärt.
