For the world premiere of Paradisiacal Rites, Forum Frohner will be transformed into a visually gripping room installation that comes across like a highly artificial re-invention of nature.
A corn field interspersed with kinetic sculptures and a sky full of (taxidermied) wild birds form the battleground of Ryan Mitchell’s “theatre of cruelty” in which his performers, dancers, and musicians – along with leeches, wine, blood, and honey – fall into both psychic and physical borderline situations.
Paradisiacal Rites is the continuation and conclusion of the cycle “Transports of Delirium”, performance projects in which aesthetic statements turn into operatic rituals that evoke the old idea of the total artwork and transfer it to the 21st century.
