Der Dr. Leopold-Lucas-Preis wird durch den Dekan der Evangelisch-theologischen Fakultät jährlich einmal, tunlichst im Monat Mai, verliehen für hervorragende, durch entsprechende Veröffentlichungen ausgewiesene Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Theologie, Geistesgeschichte, Geschichtsforschung und Philosophie.
Dabei ist ein Werk, das zur Förderung der Beziehungen zwischen Menschen und Völkern wesentlich beiträgt, besonders zu berücksichtigen.

The Dr. Leopold Lucas Prize is awarded once annually, if possible in the month of May, by the Dean of the Faculty of Protestant Theology for outstanding work - confirmed by appropriate publications - in the fields of theology, the history of ideas, history and philosophy.
An oeuvre which contributes significantly to the advancement of relations between individuals and peoples is to be given particular consideration.
